SSC CGL New Pattern

1. There are FOUR tiers in the SSC exam
2. Tier 1 and Tier 2 are purely online computer-based exams
3. Tier 1 has 100 questions, 25 each on GK, LR, English and Quant. Marking scheme is +2 -0.5, max marks of 200, time of 60 mins
4. For most candidates, Tier 2 has 2 papers of 200 marks each – 1 in Quant (100 questions, 2 hours, +2 -0.5 marking) and 1 in English (200 questions, 2 hours, +1 -0.25 marking)
5. Tier 3 is a descriptive paper-and-pen exam in English or Hindi, testing essay writing, precis writing, letter writing etc. It is for 100 marks and 1 hour duration
6. Tier 4 is a Computer Proficiency Test or a Data Entry Skill Test, as applicable. This Tier is qualifying only
7. Final merit will depend on the scores of Tier 1, 2 and 3, and the candidate would have to clear the cutoff of each Tier to qualify.
