CET Overview
The CET has several different names depending on who you ask. Anyway, it refers to the exam conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Maharashtra, for admission to MBA colleges all over the state.
CET is a purely computer-based test.

CET 2016 Updates
We will update this page once the notification is released. For now, here’s what we know:
- Online registrations will probably open in February 2016
- The exam will be held in March 2016
- Results are expected by the end of March 2016 itself
- No major updates so far regarding the exam pattern
Eligibility
- You should have passed with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline
- Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination can also apply.
- Maharashtra State and OMS candidates who have appeared for the CAT / GMAT / CMAT / MAT / XAT / ATMA are eligible for All India seats subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria. Such candidates are also required to fill and confirm online application form
Pattern of the Question Paper
- The exam is purely online
- It will be of 2.5 hours (150 minutes) length
- There will be a total of 200 questions, in 3 sections, as below:
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
- Logical / Abstract Reasoning
- The exam has no negative marking

Syllabus
Like most Aptitude Tests, the CET syllabus is not defined. Overall, it can be classified as being easier than CAT or XAT.

The application procedure has to be completed online on the DTE Maharshtra website https://www.aicte-india.org/bureaus/cmat
Participating Colleges
Several premier MBA colleges in Maharashtra accept CET scores. However, note that simply possessing a CMAT score does not guarantee admission, as each college or university may set its own specific admission requirements.
More than 60,000 candidates take the test every year.
